In 2005, the School of Foreign Languages and Literature of Ningbo University was approved as a key research base of humanities and social sciences in Zhejiang Province, and in 2010, the Master's Degree in Translation (MTI) was added. "In 2010, the second-level discipline of English Language and Literature passed the acceptance of provincial key disciplines, and in the same year, it was approved as the innovation team of Zhejiang University ("English Marine Literature and International Exchange" innovation team). The discipline is one of the key disciplines in the 12th Five-Year Plan of Zhejiang Province, the first-class discipline in the 13th Five-Year Plan of Zhejiang Province, and one of the five "peak disciplines" of Ningbo University. It is one of the five "peak disciplines" of Ningbo University. There are 21 professors, 40 associate professors, 41 PhDs and 8 PhD supervisors (including co-advisors) in the discipline. Among them, there is one expert with special allowance from the government of the State Council, two excellent talents in the new century from the Ministry of Education, one academic member of the National MTI Education Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, one member of the National University Foreign Language Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, one special talent from Zhejiang Province, two special professors of "Qianjiang Scholars" from Zhejiang Province, one special professor of "Yongjiang Scholars" from Ningbo City and one special professor of "Ningbo University". There are two "Yongjiang Scholars" Specially Appointed Professors, and five young and middle-aged leaders of disciplines in provincial universities. At present, there are six academic research fields (secondary degree programs) in English Language and Literature, Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, Translation Studies, Japanese Language and Literature, German Language and Literature, Comparative Literature and Intercultural Studies and one professional degree program of Master of Translation (MTI) (including three fields of English Translation, English Interpretation and Japanese Translation) under the first-level discipline of Foreign Languages and Literature.
